great news

Hi FEAST-
I'm excited to post some new updates:

We have LAND! The lawn in front of the UEPI lawn is the spot for our garden. We met with an arborist on Friday to talk about trimming the silk oaks to allow more sunlight into the garden. The administration has agreed to help us trim the trees, tear out the grass and re-build the fence.
Our funding request from the Sustainability Fund was approved and we now have $1000 to work with. We found out about free mulch and compost from Griffith Park that we can haul over here and incorporate to the soil so we should be in good shape!
Regular meeting this week (Thursday at 12:30) but maybe we'll have the meeting on the UEPI lawn (ie OUR GARDEN) this week instead of Johnson 204. We have a lot of planning to do!

This is a really neat article about a restaurant in Missouri that connects how fabulously creative and beautiful food can be with eating locally and sustainably.
